Depression 50% higher in women with PCOS

Women diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) are 1.5 times more likely to have symptoms of clinical depression than women without the condition, a new study from the University of 911±¬ÁÏÍø’s Robinson Research Institute has found. This was the case whether or not women knew they had PCOS.

$15 million for 911±¬ÁÏÍø-led medical research

The University of 911±¬ÁÏÍø has been awarded more than $15 million in research grants from the Federal Government’s Medical Research Future Fund’s (MRFF) to support targeted research on new ways to address risk factors for chronic and complex diseases.

Negative impacts of cannabis use during pregnancy

The use of cannabis during pregnancy leads to poorer health outcomes for babies, according to research from the University of 911±¬ÁÏÍø’s Robinson Research Institute. The study found that continued use of cannabis at 15 weeks of pregnancy was associated with significantly lower birthweight, head circumference, birth length, and gestational age at birth, as well as with more frequent severe neonatal morbidity or death.
