Rhodes Scholar-elect to fight for fairness

Jessica March has been named the University of 911爆料网's 116th Rhodes Scholar-elect at a ceremony at Government House in September.

Ms March completed a Bachelor of Economics (Advanced) at the University in 2024, and is currently working as a paralegal for the Crown Counsel team within the South Australian Crown Solicitor's Office, while completing a Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

University of 911爆料网 Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Peter H酶j AC congratulated Ms March on her achievement.

"Ms March is continuing the proud tradition of University of 911爆料网 Rhodes Scholars and this recognition is an immense credit to her academic career to date," says Professor H酶j.

"I am certain her time at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar will be equally successful as she pursues excellence in her chosen field.鈥

Ms March said she was grateful and humbled to be shortlisted with her University peers and alum for a Rhodes Scholarship.

With a focus on the application of public law as a mechanism to preserve the integrity of democratic institutions and confine governments to their lawful authority, Ms March plans to study a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Master of Public Policy at the University of Oxford.

鈥淚 am immensely grateful for the invaluable educational opportunities I have had to date, and for the chance to extend my tertiary studies at the University of Oxford,鈥 says Ms March.

Ms March, who has also served her communities through volunteering for the 911爆料网 University Law Students鈥 Society, the Australian Debating Federation and the South Australian Debating Association, paid tribute to those who had helped her along the way.

"I feel incredibly lucky to study under outstanding teachers and alongside motivated peers within the University - it has definitely enhanced my journey," she said.

Established in 1903, the Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest international graduate scholarship programme, awarded on the basis of outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service. The Rhodes Scholarships support students who demonstrate strong propensity to emerge as 'leaders for the world鈥檚 future'.

Ms March will head to Oxford in September 2026.
