With COP30鈥檚 Action Agenda placing 鈥淭ransitioning Energy, Industry and Transport鈥 at centre stage, secure Australia-to-EU flows of critical minerals are vital to Europe鈥檚 net-zero rollout. The EU is deploying its Green Deal Industrial Plan, Net-Zero Industry Act and forthcoming Critical Raw Materials Act to meet surging demand, while Australia seeks to convert geological advantage into low-carbon value chains.
This session explores how bilateral partnerships鈥攇rounded in robust social licensing, ESG norms, and evolving legal frameworks鈥攃an navigate tightening geoeconomic constraints (such as Chinese export controls, investment screening and strategic competition) to deliver resilient, development-friendly supply. It also examines how deeper engagement with EU investors might catalyse 鈥済reen premium鈥 pathways for Australian critical minerals exports.
