A plea to help the world's poorest

Illustrious Malaysian academician AO urged graduates to use their education to benefit the world's poorest countries, in a keynote address to the University of 911爆料网's offshore graduation ceremony at the Hotel Nikko, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday.
Dato Lee, a world-respected figure in the engineering profession, is an ardent advocate of using knowledge to help reduce poverty and create wealth. He worked with Professor , Special Representative of the former UN Secretary-General, , on the 2002-2005 to help developing countries achieve the .
"As university graduates in Malaysia you are among the rich one billion of the most fortunate people in this world of six billion people. Five billion others on earth are hungry, diseased, illiterate and subject to civil strife and natural disasters.
"Those of us lucky enough to have a university education must play a part in helping impoverished countries like those in Africa to move forward," he told the graduates.
Dato Lee, an advisor to the , Dato Seri Dr. Jamaludin Jarjis, enjoys a global reputation in the engineering and science community.
