Statistical Modelling & Inference
Resources for Statistical Modelling & Inference (both semester and trimester versions) – for more information about the courses, please see course outlines.
MLC Drop-In Centre
Students from Stat Modelling & Inference can use the drop-in centre, but we will give priority to first year students. If you see every other table has students, then we would appreciate it if you found another place to sit so that there is room for new students.
Please note that not every staff member in the MLC knows all of the content in Stat Modelling & Inference, there will be times when we can only give general study advice for this course.
Assumed knowledge
This course assumes knowledge of probability distributions and methods from the course Probability & Statistics, and also of hypothesis testing and confidence intervals from an introductory statistics course such as Statistical Analysis & Modelling. Their resources pages might be useful:
Topics in Stat Modelling & Inference
2025
This revision seminar was given for students in Stat Modelling & Inference in Semester 2 2025. David discussed the list of hypothesis tests appearing in the course (at the start), the distribution of test statistics (starting at 29m53s), regression, ANOVA and ANCOVA (starting at 1h33m8s), pivotal quantities and confidence intervals (starting at 1h58m45s).
2024
This revision seminar was given for students in Stat Modelling & Inference in Semester 2 2024. David discussed pivotal quantities (at the start) and also the hypothesis tests that go with multiple regression (at 1h16m18s).
2019
This revision seminar was given for students in Stat Modelling & Inference in Semester 2 2019. David used the students' notes to make sense of how ANOVA works, with a little bit on ANCOVA.
